A day of rain – yes, a whole damn day – has got me thinking about my wardrobe as we start to transition into the next season.
Whilst it’s still warm (ish) outside, the sweltering, high-holiday weather of a few weeks ago seems to be gone. At least for the next few weeks, anyway. Soon, all the skirts and shorts of my summer wardrobe will either need to be paired with tights or retired to the back of the cupboard until the sun makes its annual appearance next year.
In the meantime, though, I want to continue to take advantage of the warmer weather whilst making sure that I’m prepared for the cooler evenings and intermittent showers that inevitably appear at the onset of September.
And what better way to do that than in a pair of culottes? Loose enough and cropped enough that they still feel like summer wear, but also long enough to cover most of my legs in the rain, culottes are a great transitional piece during the warm, damp month of September. Chuck them on with a sleeveless blouse and a pair of brogues or heels, and they are even chic enough for a corporate environment.
As we march full-steam-ahead into the wettest season of the year, below are my picks of the last of the summer culottes.
